Support for the Children Revalidation Centers of Gent and of Goes

Twenty sailors on bikes have taken up the challenge of riding some 320km for a charity. My friend François is collecting funds around this 3 day event for two children revalidations centers. One is based in Gent (Belgium), the other one is based in Goes (Netherlands). Overall the event is bringing some 20 cyclers along the tulip fields and the windmills of the lower lands.

Day 1 : Off they go!

So the day has come and our guys have all met in Zeebrugge around 14h00 to put on their brand new suits. Fresh equipment that really give them a professionnal touch, no ?

Departure was given at 15h30 from the Marine base, but I was not allowed to get in (we're not kidding with security here)! So, I've just been able to catch a few pictures from the starting line yesterday, they're just too fast!

The bikes they ride here are close to competition level: aluminium, carbon fiber, and saddles that'll make one walk like a cow boy.

You'll notice that one of the lads is riding a mountain bike, that's Johan. He says his mountain bike is like a "diesel engine" as compared to the other "regular engines". And he sure can keep the pace! Well, let's see the news tomorrow.
